Introduction
The Grit Separator is a critical component in the mechanical pre-treatment stage of sewage treatment plants. It is specifically designed to separate the mineral fraction (sand, grit, and stones) from the incoming wastewater flow. By utilizing the principles of simple sedimentation and mechanical extraction, it ensures that subsequent biological and chemical treatment stages remain free from abrasive solids.

Working Principle
The separation process is divided into three distinct phases to ensure maximum efficiency:
1. Sedimentation: The mixture of water and grit enters the specially profiled stainless steel hopper. The design creates a "calm zone" where the flow velocity drops, allowing mineral particles to fall to the bottom by gravity.
2. Dynamic Equilibrium: A special internal partition manages the flow, maintaining a balance between the falling speed of the particles and the lateral speed of the water. This prevents sand from flowing back into the inlet or escaping through the outlet.
3. Extraction & Dehydration: A heavy-duty shaftless screw conveyor picks up the settled material from the bottom. As the grit is transported upward, it undergoes gravity drainage, effectively separating the liquid from the solid fraction before discharge.
Technical Features
lShaftless Screw Design: High-strength screw allows for the transport of difficult materials without clogging or wrapping.
l U-Section Trough: Equipped with a special anti-wear lining to ensure high efficiency and minimal internal wear.
l Fully Enclosed Machine: The structure is completely sealed to prevent odor emission and ensure a clean working environment.
l Low Rotational Speed: Ensures gentle handling of materials, lower energy consumption, and extended equipment lifespan.
Key Advantages
lCustomized Design: Engineering and manufacturing can be tailored to specific flow rates and site requirements.
lLow Maintenance: No mechanical parts or bearings are in contact with the sewage, significantly reducing repair costs.
lEasy Erection: Compact footprint and flanged connections allow for quick installation into existing systems.
l High Purity: Achieve superior grit dryness and purity through the combination of sedimentation and screw-press dehydration.
Application
The Grit Separator is a versatile solution designed for high-efficiency grit removal across a wide range of municipal and industrial sectors:
l Municipal Wastewater Treatment (WWTP): Essential for grit removal stations to protect downstream pumps and aeration systems.
lFood & Beverage Industry: Ideal for slaughterhouses, fish processing, and poultry plants where mineral sediment is common.
lTextile & Leather Industries: Effective for tanneries and textile mills to separate inorganic grit from process water.
lPulp & Paper Industry: Used in paper mills to remove sand and heavy particles during the recycling or production process.
l Chemical & Plastic Recycling: Crucial for plastic recycling industries to separate heavy contaminants from wash water.
l General Industrial Use: Applicable for laundries, breweries, and any facility requiring mechanical separation of mineral fractions.

Main Structure
The Grit Separator is engineered for durability and high-performance separation. The main assembly consists of the following high-grade components:
lSedimentation Hopper: A large-volume tank specifically designed to reduce water velocity and turbulence, allowing the mineral fraction to settle effectively at the bottom.
lU-Section Trough: A precision-fabricated longitudinal housing that contains the screw. It is designed to prevent overflow and guide the sand toward the discharge point.
l High-Performance Shaftless Screw: The heart of the machine. Made from high-strength carbon steel or stainless steel, the shaftless design prevents clogging and allows for the transport of large or sticky particles.
lAnti-Wear Lining: To protect the trough from the abrasive nature of sand and grit, the interior is fitted with a replaceable, low-friction HDPE or ceramic liner, significantly extending the equipment's lifespan.
l Drive Unit: A high-torque geared motor connected directly to the screw, providing a low rotational speed for steady, energy-efficient transport and maximum dehydration.
l Inlet & Outlet Flanges: Standardized connections (e.g., PN10/ANSI) that allow for a seamless, leak-proof integration into your existing pipework system.
l Adjustable Support Legs: Robust structural legs that allow for the machine's inclination to be adjusted, optimizing the dewatering efficiency for different types of grit...
